Know Which Anti Wrinkle Creams and Lotions to Avoid
By Andrea Marshall Platinum Quality Author

You don't want to rush out and buy skin care anti wrinkle cream until you know which ingredients you should avoid. There are simply too many ingredients in the average anti wrinkle creams and lotions that could be harmful to your health. I am not speaking of rashes or minor irritations, but something far, far worse.

Oxybenzone is an organic compound that is used in many sunscreens. It is also frequently used as an ingredient in skin care anti wrinkle cream, to protect your skin from further age producing UV damage. The problem with using this compound stems from the fact that it acts as a photo sensitizer, which means that it makes the skin more sensitive to light.

The worst part is that the photosensitivity increases the production of free radicals in your skin while under illumination, which makes it actually a photo carcinogen. What this means is when the Oxybenzone in your anti wrinkle creams and lotions is illuminated, it has a destructive effect on your DNA.

This was proven in a study conducted two years ago, and the information from the study is just making it to most consumers. Even though it has been proven to cause strand breaks in your DNA, it is to this day being included in both sunscreen and skin care anti wrinkle cream. In the European Union, any product containing 0.5% of this compound has to have a warning label, but not here in the U.S.

Dermatologists and others have been against its use in anti wrinkle creams and lotions since 1993. That is because these products were intended for daily use, and the areas that they are used on, the head and the neck, receive more exposure to UV rays than any other part of the body. It is believed that the photo carcinogenic properties of this compound might be a contributing factor in the increase in melanoma incidence that has been found in sunscreen users.

A 2008 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the compound to be present in approximately 96.8% of the urine samples studied as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. That means that a high percentage of us have a very good chance of developing melanoma through the continued use of the sunscreen and skin care anti wrinkle cream that contains this compound.

There are literally hundreds of compounds that have been show to block UV light, but there have been virtually no studies on the long term effects of any of them. You don't necessarily need a compound with that quality in your anti wrinkle creams and lotions though. All that you really need is safe natural antioxidants in your products.

There is a company in New Zealand that has created an antioxidant blend that it calls Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. This is an emulsified blending of CoenzymeQ10 and Natural vitamin E, which synergistically work together in the company's skin care anti wrinkle cream to destroy free radicals deep within the skin. They have also been shown in studies to provide you with all of the protection that you need from UV light, acting as a safe and natural sunscreen that you can trust.
